What I Think About Movies I've Seen

This movie follows the life of Harmony (played by Justin Rice) shortly after he was dumped by his girlfriend. There's not much of a plot, so it's more of a character study. Harmony is a habitual loser who can't hold a job, can't keep a girlfriend, and can't handle chocolate. He doesn't get a lot of respect from his mother or two brothers. He's one of the least memorable and least interesting protagonists that I've seen in quite a while.

This is a micro-budget movie, and it really shows in the production value. The sound quality wasn't all that great, and there were a couple of scenes (particularly, a friend yelling in Russian at his wife, and a singer at his brother's wedding) where it was so muddled that the words ran together and you couldn't differentiate them. There were also some rather harsh sounds throughout the movie, like a poorly-tuned piano and a loud table saw (or some other kind of power tool) drowning out one of the scenes. I'm not sure whether it was digital or shot on film or video, but the picture quality wasn't all that great either.

Despite the audiovisual shortcomings and not really having a plot, the movie isn't a complete loss. Parts of it were funny, and I don't have any complaints about the acting. However, I wasn't really drawn into the story. Harmony's girlfriend summed it up pretty well when she described their relationship as a movie where you realize halfway through that you don't really care about the characters.
