Benicio Del Toro plays Lawrence Talbot, an Englishman who moved to the United States after his mother's death, leaving his father (Anthony Hopkins) and brother behind. Lawrence returns after he is contacted by his brother's fiancee Gwen (Emily Blunt) to let him know that his brother had been killed, and he is intent on who or what did it. Some people believe that it was some kind of werewolf, and neither the movie's title nor its trailer made any attempt to hide the fact that was indeed the case. While tracking the beast, Lawrence is bitten and finds himself becoming one himself.
I was disappointed with this movie. The visual effects were unimpressive, and in particular the wolfman himself looked pretty lame. Benicio Del Toro has an odd enough appearance on his own that it would have been much better to build on that rather than covering his face entirely with hair in a manner reminiscent of Teen Wolf. In addition, the movie does very little to deserve its "R" rating and fails miserably at its attempt at a horror/thriller/suspense-type film. It had a lot of potential but just didn't live up to it.
