Ogden Marsh, Iowa is a typical midwestern small farm town until one day when things start to get a little weird. One by one, people start acting in unusual ways, becoming mindless and vacant. The sheriff (Timothy Olyphant) and his wife the doctor (Radha Mitchell) are trying to hold things together and figure out what's going on, but their efforts are cut short when the army shows up to try to contain the problem.

I was a bit disappointed with this movie. Most of the attempts at being scary were jump scenes with loud noises or sudden movement, but I generally don't go for that kind of thing and in this case they were way too obvious to be effective. It lacked the suspense and anxiety that I was hoping to see, and I also didn't care much for the ending.

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I haven't seen the original 1973 version of this movie, so I can't say how faithful the remake is to the original. However, there's not a lot that went on that I hadn't seen before. It felt a lot like a cross between Outbreak and Cabin Fever, but to be fair it's entirely possible that both of those movies were inspired by the original version of this film.
