Jay Baruchel plays Kirk, an awkward, gangly guy of rather humble origins who works as a security agent at the airport. One day, he saves a beautiful woman named Molly (Alice Eve) from harassment by another TSA agent. She also leaves her phone at the checkpoint and when she calls it, he picks up and she asks her to meet her the next day to give it back. Kirk had no illusions of anything other than handing over the cell phone, but she inconceivably invites him out.
This movie was quite a bit better than I expected. It's not getting much critical acclaim, and I can understand that, and I was left with a mediocre impression from the trailer. However, the movie is genuinely funny and manages to be stupid without crossing the line to intolerable. It's what I hoped Hot Tub Time Machine would be, although I'm sure that opinion probably won't be shared by a lot of people.
